The September 11, 1973, three years and seven days after the electoral victory of the Unidad Popular, Chilean President Salvador Allende, besieged in the Palace of La Moneda by army tanks Revolt, received an ultimatum to relinquish power. "I will defend with my life the authority which the people gave me," replied the president, and a few hours later his body lay wrapped in a Chilean flag amid the ruins of La Moneda. With his overthrow and death culminated a conspiracy hatched on the day of his election victory and began a fierce repression that consist the lives of thousands of Chileans.
